How We Handle Your Data

Written in plain language on purpose. Here's exactly what we collect, what we don't, and why.

Last updated: January 2026

The Short Version
Almost every tool runs entirely in your browser. Things you type into the Word Counter, Password Generator, calculators, and timers are never sent to our servers.
We use Google Analytics to see general traffic patterns (which pages are popular, which country visitors come from), not to identify you personally.
We use Google AdSense to display ads, which may use cookies to show relevant ads based on your browsing.
We never sell your data to anyone, for any reason.
You can ask us to delete any data we might have by emailing support@freealarmtimer.com.

1. Information We Collect

FreeAlarmTimer.com is built around a simple principle: collect as little as possible. Here is exactly what is and isn't collected when you visit this site.

Information We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not require you to create an account, so we never collect your name, email, or password for using any tool.
  • We do not store the text you type into the Word Counter, the passwords or passphrases you generate, the numbers from the Random Number Generator, or any calculator inputs. These are processed entirely in your browser and disappear the moment you close or refresh the tab.
  • We do not track which specific tools an individual visitor uses over time, or build a personal profile of your activity.

Information That May Be Collected Automatically

Like virtually every website, some general technical information is collected automatically through Google Analytics and Google AdSense (explained in detail in their own sections below), including:

  • Approximate location (country/city level, based on IP address, not precise GPS location)
  • Browser type, device type, and operating system
  • Pages visited and how long you spent on them
  • The site or search engine that referred you here

This information is aggregated and anonymized, used to understand traffic patterns, not to identify you as an individual.

Information You Voluntarily Provide

If you use the Contact form, the name, email address, and message you enter are sent directly to our support email via your own email client. This information is only used to respond to your message and is not added to any marketing list or shared with third parties.

2. How Tool Data Is Handled

Because this is the part people usually care about most, here is a direct breakdown of exactly how each category of tool handles your input:

Tool CategoryWhere Processing HappensData Sent to Server?
Alarm Clock, Timers, StopwatchYour browser onlyNo
Calculators (Age, Date, Sleep, Scientific)Your browser onlyNo
Word CounterYour browser onlyNo
Password GeneratorYour browser only (crypto-secure RNG)No
Random Number GeneratorYour browser onlyNo
Password Breach CheckBrowser hashes locally, only a partial anonymized hash fragment is sentPartial hash only, never the actual password

On the password breach checker specifically: this feature uses a technique called k-anonymity. Your password is hashed in your browser, and only the first 5 characters of that hash are sent to check against a breach database. This is not enough information for anyone to reconstruct your actual password.

3. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

A cookie is a small text file stored on your device by your browser. This site uses cookies in the following ways:

  • Preference cookies: remembering settings like dark mode, so you don't have to reselect it every visit. These are stored locally and never leave your device.
  • Analytics cookies: set by Google Analytics to distinguish unique visitors and sessions (see Section 4).
  • Advertising cookies: set by Google AdSense and its partners to display ads and measure their performance (see Section 5).

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings. Doing so may affect dark mode persistence or ad relevance, but every tool on this site will still function normally.

4. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use this site in aggregate, which pages are most popular, which countries visitors come from, and which tools get the most use, so we can decide what to improve or build next.

Google Analytics collects data such as your approximate location, device type, browser, and on-site behavior, using cookies and similar technologies. This data is processed by Google according to their own privacy practices.

You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, available directly from Google. You can also review Google's own privacy practices at their Privacy & Terms page.

5. Google AdSense & Advertising

This site displays advertisements through Google AdSense to help cover hosting and development costs, which is what allows every tool to remain free with no paywalls or subscriptions.

Google AdSense and its advertising partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. This is sometimes called interest-based advertising.

  • You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings page.
  • You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting aboutads.info.
  • We do not control the specific ads shown to you, that's determined by Google's own systems based on your browser settings and ad preferences.

We never give Google AdSense access to anything you type into our tools, calculations, passwords, or generated numbers stay completely separate from any advertising system.

6. How Data Is Shared

We do not sell, rent, or trade any visitor data to third parties for marketing purposes. The only data sharing that happens is:

  • With Google, through Google Analytics and Google AdSense, as described above, for traffic analysis and ad delivery.
  • If legally required, we may disclose information if compelled by law, court order, or government request, though given how little data we actually collect, there is very little to disclose in practice.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you're located, you may have rights under regulations like the GDPR (Europe) or CCPA (California), including the right to:

  • Know what data is collected about you
  • Request a copy of any data we hold about you
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Opt out of personalized advertising and analytics tracking (see Sections 4 and 5 for direct links)

Because most of our tools never send your data to a server in the first place, there is usually very little to request or delete. For anything related to the Contact form or general questions about your data, email us at support@freealarmtimer.com.

8. Children's Privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us through the Contact form, please email us at support@freealarmtimer.com and we will delete it promptly.

9. Data Security

Since the vast majority of this site's tools process data entirely within your own browser, there is no central database of user inputs that could be breached. For the limited data we do handle (such as Contact form messages sent via email), reasonable technical measures are used to keep that information secure.

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but minimizing what we collect in the first place is the most effective protection we can offer.

10. Changes To This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally to reflect changes in our practices, new tools, or legal requirements. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision. We encourage checking back periodically, especially if you have specific privacy concerns.
